Wind Power

Well, here goes nuthin’.

We expect that our effort to build a wind turbine out front where our flagpole is will meet with resistance from the Township.  But we’re going to do everything in our power to make it happen (no pun intended).

Turns out that our little plot of land happens to lie in a spot where there’s just enough wind to make an electricity-generating windmill make sense (and dollars).  But the catch is that it will need to be about 100 feet tall — and will have three 20+ foot blades.  The Town zoning ordinance allows 50 feet.

So it’s off to the planning board we go.  We hope that a highly visible windmill generating clean, renewable energy is something that the Township will support.  My skepticism leads me to the presumption that we will have a big fight on our hands.

Well, if that’s what it takes to save the planet then that’s what it takes.

Stay tuned — and let us know what you think too.  Any ideas, thoughts and especially public support for this project are always welcomed.
