Wayne, New Jersey.  8/10/07. 
Wayne Auto Spa announced today that it has filed a variance application seeking Wayne Township’s approval for the green car wash/quick lube to erect a wind turbine.  The wind turbine is expected to generate more than 12,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, without releasing any harmful greenhouse gasses.
Wayne Auto Spa is not seeking any financial assistance from the Township at all, despite the great expense associated with this environmentally friendly project.
“The wind turbine is our latest effort to raise awareness about climate change while also reducing (i) pollution & greenhouse gas emissions, (ii) our dependence on foreign oil & (iii) the strain on the local power grid,” said Rob Burke, co-owner of Wayne Auto Spa and environmental activist. 
“Wayne Auto Spa already has 58 solar panels that generate clean, renewable electricity from the sun.  We also have two 250,000 BTU furnaces that heat our facility using waste oil collected in our oil change,” he added.
Governor Corzine recognized Wayne Auto Spa last year with his prestigious Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence.  The Governor noted that while the car wash/quick lube industry has a history of environmental destruction, Wayne Auto Spa has demonstrated environmental leadership through the deployment of innovative technology.
“I hope that Wayne Township residents and forward thinking public officials and other folks who want to leave a clean planet for their grandchildren make themselves heard at the public meetings held to discuss this variance application,” said Burke.
