Dear Rob,
On behalf of our Environmental Science class and Dr. Richard Pardi, I want to thank you for the tours you ran for William Paterson University. You gave our students a real world experience in applications of environmentally friendly technologies and an understanding that each individual can make a positive difference towards preserving our planet.
Cheers and thanks again,
Marty

So I’m talking to someone at a local gathering during reunion weekend and they mention that one of our old fraternity brothers has been stirring up local zoning boards….that would be you.
Keep up the good fight…and drop me a line!!
Rob,
You are a leader, a doer. When a municipality wants something to happen, it does.
Other doer’s in communities around the country are following this.
Good luck,
Thanks, Rich. Having been kicked around by Wayne Township for more than two years, it matters a lot to get support from folks watching this charade.
Check out Fox Business News tomorrow, September 5, around 1:45 pm — I am being interviewed about the situation.
Thanks again,
Rob
Rob ; I had a Skystream 3.7 installed at my mountian top home 1900 ft above sea leval here in northeren Pa in nov 08. It is always spinning and to date has produced 850 kwh. We pay .7$ per kwh to the elec co. Now lets just see what that mill will do for your elec bill if you pay .15$ per kwh your wind mill will make $127.50 in 5 mounths. I know of four other 3.7s and mine has out preformed all of them. We are retired and a $16k investment that cant help pay for itself hurts. save your money,But if you want a used windmill let me know
Dick,
Thanks for your note. I am curious to learn more about your situation. For one thing, the price you paid seems quite high relative to what I have been quoted. In NJ, we also have a clean energy program that pays for a portion of the turbine. We calculated an 8 year payback after giving effect to the NJ rebate, which is the same payback as our solar panels. (This assumes that electric rates never increase — in fact, they have been increasing by double digit percentage rates annually for several years, with no end in sight.)
Indeed, I am even more surprised by your post since Carl Baldino has had a much different (and better) production experience in South Jersey, in his backyard.
But the real reason we scaled down to a Skystream is that its really the only turbine I have seen that is suited for a small monopole below 50 feet - a zoning issue at my location.
My feeling is that the most important thing I can do right now is install the Skystream and show people that it is not a health hazard and is not dangerous. Perhaps with experience having a Skystream at my car wash, folks will gain knowledge for themselves and fear mongering will find no takers in the audience.
This is just a stepping stone — unfortunately, a necessary one — to a 20kw turbine on a 90 foot tower.
Dear Robert, Keep up your good work! I’ve been an activist for 35 years & I know what you are facing. When a news article was published about your struggle,,(about a year ago), I wrote a letter to the editor supporting you. It was never published. If you send me your fax #, I will fax it to you. I am also sending you a picture of the utility pole, transformer, power, lines, cable & phone lines that sit at the foot of my driveway. MUCH MORE OFFENSIVE THAN A SLIM, THREE BLADE WIND TURBINE!!!
Vinnie
Thanks for the kind words, Vinnie. Remarkably, The Record’s last article that you saw makes it seem as if the Town of Wayne has been struggling in good faith to balance legitimate competing interests to resolve a difficult zoning issue.
The truth is that the Town of Wayne, under the direction of former Mayor and current Assemblyman & County GOP Boss Scott T. Rumana has been acting in bad faith — intentionally making it impossible for the truth about wind turbines to be told.
And they seem to be getting away with it. So much for democracy, truth & justice. Very disappointing.
In any case, we will prevail in our small battle, but it also appears that the Town of Wayne will get away with abusing our rights.
Doubtful that anyone will even care enough to try to fix the real problem here — no checks and balances on the extraordinary power wielded by the local government.
Thanks again for your note.
